Frank Boynton, Chief
Frank Boynton moved to Bozeman from Washington DC in the spring of 2016. That fall, he joined Fort Ellis Fire/Rescue, serving as a firefighter, EMT, Training Officer, and Assistant Chief of Support Services. He became Chief of Fort Ellis Fire/Rescue on November 1, 2023. He served in the US Marine Corps for 27 years, primarily as a helicopter pilot, and retired as a Colonel. He has served in Desert Storm, Somalia, Kosovo, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has a BS from Rutgers University and master’s degrees from the Army Command and General Staff College and the National War College. He earned his Ph.D. from Montana State University, where he began teaching in fall 2022.

Buck Taylor, Deputy Chief
Buck Taylor moved to Bozeman from Chicago in 1998 and has served Fort Ellis Fire/Rescue as a firefighter, EMT, and Assistant Chief since 2001. His first job was as an EMT on an ambulance in Chicago, and he has worked for organizations providing healthcare to underserved populations for more than 30 years. He holds a BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas and a Master in Public Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
